Albury Wodonga's outdoor club for bushwalking (and skiing, cycling and canoeing)

PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION 2008

The September club night each year is our photographic competition night for all interested club members. Vivienne Harvey, has been gracious enough to donate her time to judge this year's competition. Each photo will be judged using the following criteria:

  • Interest of subject matter 5 marks
  • Composition 2 marks
  • Sharpness of focus (as appropriate) 1 mark
  • Matters of colour, contrast, exposure and clarity 2 marks

COMPETITION RULES. · Only prints are to be entered and it is recommended that the prints be accompanied by a CD.

  • All photos are to have been taken on a Border Bushwalking Club Trip. This is to ensure that we highlight the activities of the club as well as enjoying the photographic expertise of our members.
  • Each print must have a title / caption and the trip date attached.
  • Entries are to be submitted to the coordinator - Nonie Fielder 60242362 by the August meeting.
  • The person who enters photos must have taken the photos.
  • Photos may be cropped
  • Enlargements would enhance small photos.
  • Digital manipulation is allowed, as there is no way of knowing whether this has been done or not.
  • There is a limit of 2 prints per person per category. · Each print must be entered in the appropriate category
  • Photos can only be entered in "miscellaneous" when they do not fit into any other category.
  • No print previously entered in any category can be re entered again · Computer generated and laboratory prints will be in the same category.

CATEGORIES.

  1. Landscape. - This includes all landscapes, waterscapes, alpine, overseas and Australia.
  2. Portraiture - capture some interesting faces as you walk, canoe, ski or socialise
  3. Close up/Macro - i.e. approximately one metre or less - plants, animals, birds, rocks, etc
  4. Wildlife - lots of scope here with the wildlife we capture while out and about.
  5. BBC Activities - we should get plenty of entries of members of the club doing all those active (or inactive) things that come with the territory.
  6. Club Character - save all those whacky ones for here, but please get permission from the subject. Judged by popular choice.
  7. Special subject for 2008 - Equipment
  8. Miscellaneous - only photos that do not fit into any other category.
  9. Best overall - awarded to the print deemed to be best overall by the invited judge. This photo does not have to be a winner in any of the above categories. To ensure that all entries will be uniform please present photos as follows:
  • Mount photos on white A4 paper with double sided tape.
  • Print size: 18 - uppercase Font: Ariel 2cm from edge of page. Place entries in an envelope with your name on the envelope.
  • The coordinator will allocate each entrant with a number which will be written on the back of the A4 mount and then the photo will be put in a protective sleeve.
  • Entries to be in by August BBC meeting.
