Let's consider each of these in turn:
- Afraid of snakes. Consider
our club's record; about 25 000 person-days of walking and no-one has
been bitten by a snake. You can also wear gaiters, (which makes you
look trendy), and carry a snake bite kit.
- Not fit. The most popular walks
are the easy one of a few km length, that anyone can do. You will not
get fit sitting at home wishing.
- Don't know what is involved.
Here is a general outline of how
to organise a walk.
- Don't know where to go. The
club has a list
of walks suitable for each season.
- Aunty is ill. Take a mobile
phone.
- Lack confidence.
We have a list of mentors
available to go with any new leader.
- Don't have anyone to go with.
You will as soon as you advertise an activity in Footprints.
- Navigationally challenged.
This is not a problem. Many of our walks are on well marked tracks where
it would be hard to get lost. Take a mentor with you.
